What is GPS for dashcams?
Everybody must be familiar with GPS (Global Position System). But when mentioning GPS, people usually think of GPS navigators, such as Google Maps or Apple Maps. However, a GPS tracker in a dashcam is different from a GPS navigator because it cannot navigate, instead, it tracks the vehicle’s speed and locations.
Acumen digital rearview mirror dashcams do not include built-in GPS trackers but are compatible with most external GPS antennas. The external antennas provide GPS satellite signals to the digital rearview mirror dash cam so that the vehicle’s speed and position will be logged automatically to the memory card. When you playback the footage on your computer or smartphone, you’ll be able to see the speed and position alongside the footage.
